Uganda is a country in East Africa, bordered in the east by Kenya, in the north by Sudan, by Congo in the west, Rwanda in the southwest and Tanzania in the south. Most important cities are located in the south, including the capital city of Kampala. Uganda is home to many different ethnic groups, none of whom form a majority of the population. English became the official language of Uganda after the country became independent in 1962.
